We’re thrilled to welcome you as a volunteer at Dogs Mountain Sanctuary! Our goal is to create a positive and rewarding experience for everyone.
To achieve this, please uphold the following code of conduct, reflecting our shared values:
I. Core Values & Principles:
Our work is guided by these principles:
- Adaptability: The needs of our canine patients and the sanctuary change quickly. We value flexible volunteers willing to adapt tasks as needed.
- Teamwork: We’re a team, collaborating to achieve shared goals. Support your fellow volunteers and foster a positive, inclusive environment.
- Initiative: We trust volunteers to take initiative and work effectively with minimal supervision, while maintaining teamwork and communication.
- Emotional Awareness: Caring for animals in need can be emotionally demanding. We encourage self-care and provide support resources.
- Enthusiasm: Working at a Dogs Mountain is an adventure! We value enthusiastic volunteers open to new experiences (within safe boundaries).
- Respect & Professionalism: Treat everyone—staff, volunteers, visitors—with courtesy and respect. Maintain a professional demeanor, representing the Dogs Mountain positively.
- Patient-Centered Care: Our canine patients are our priority. Prioritize their well-being and safety in all actions.
- Shared Mission: We’re united by our passion for animal welfare. Contribute actively to our mission and foster a sense of community.
II. Program – Specific Guidelines:
Specific guidelines apply to these programs:
- Rabies Free Drive: Adhere to all safety protocols for handling animals, administering vaccinations (if applicable), and community interaction. Strict infection control is crucial. Specific training will be provided.
- Sanctuary & Community Outreach: Represent the Dogs Mountain professionally and respectfully. Accurately convey information about our mission and activities, showing sensitivity to community needs and cultural contexts.
III. Conduct Expectations:
- Volunteers are ambassadors for Dogs Mountain; therefore, they must conduct themselves with integrity, fairness, and professionalism at all times.
- Respectful Community: Treat all volunteers, employees, and community members with respect, courtesy, and dignity. Avoid insensitive or offensive language and any form of violence. Show respect for local culture.
- Communication: Notify the sanctuary promptly if you can’t fulfill a scheduled shift. Maintain open communication with your supervisor.
- Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of our patients, staff, and other volunteers. Do not share confidential information outside the sanctuary.
- Safety: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures. Report any safety concerns or incidents immediately to your supervisor.
- Professional Boundaries: Maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Refrain from gossip or inappropriate behavior.
- Respect for Property: Treat the sanctuary’s property with care and respect.
- Social Media: Use discretion on social media; avoid sharing sensitive information.
- Policy Adherence: Follow all rules and policies.
IV. Consequences of Non-Compliance:
- Offensive language or behavior, or failure to adhere to this code, may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
