There is sadly a darker side to the dogs’ plight in the Philippines and other countries in SE Asia—Korea, China, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

In China, Korea and Vietnam, it is not just a case of killing and eating the animals. The brutal cruelty and treatment includes deliberate torture inflicted on the dogs and cats in the mistaken belief that the more the animal suffer, the better the flesh tastes. It is hard to understand and essential to bring to a swift end.

In Korea, dogs are ‘farmed’ for their meat. Thailand also has an active dog meat trade, which continues behind the ‘sunny holiday’ image of this popular destination.
